Patrick Dion

Patrick Dion is a leading government relations professional recognized for helping clients solve strategic issues and enhancing their reputation and brand with federal, provincial and municipal governments. His expertise, enhanced by the belief that business and volunteerism are indivisible, has earned him the trust of Canada’s most respected business leaders. 

Patrick was appointed Ontario’s representative on the Board of the Mental Health Commission of Canada. He served as the board’s vice-chair and chaired the Human Resources Committee, Audit and Finance Committee, Investment Committee, and Governance and Nominating Committee.  

Recruited by Ontario’s Minister of Health, Patrick also served on the advisory group guiding the Government of Ontario’s review of its mental health and addictions system, and he chaired the Champlain Local Health Integration Network’s Mental Health and Addictions Advisory Committee on Improving Consumer Flow. He is Chair of the Board at the Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association, a member of Carleton University’s Board of Governors, and on the board of the Canadian Film Institute. 

A recognized voice for mental health and wellness in Canada, Patrick has been awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, The Royal Ottawa Leader in Mental Health Award, the Ontario Medical Association Community Service Award, the Ottawa Journal’s Forty Under 40 Award, and was invested in the Order of Ottawa. In 2020, Nipissing University conferred upon Patrick a Doctor of Letters (honoris causa) for his leadership in the field of mental health and substance use disorder. 

Patrick holds a degree in Electrical Engineering Science from the University of Western Ontario and completed the Directors Education Program (DEP) at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.
